Marine vet Jimmy Ohlheiser received his overdue Purple Heart 56 years after being wounded in Vietnam.

Marine veteran Jimmy Ohlheiser, wounded in Vietnam in 1968, received his overdue Purple Heart 56 years later on Veterans Day. Ohlheiser, shot in the head and left paralyzed on his left side, had his award delayed due to bureaucratic errors. After efforts by Senator James Lankford’s office and the Marines, the oversight was corrected, and the medal was presented at the Norman Veterans Home.
