Auckland Hospital violated health consumer rights, failing to provide adequate care to a newborn who developed cerebral palsy.

Auckland Hospital was found to have violated the Code of Health and Disability Services Consumers' Rights after failing to provide adequate care to a newborn boy, who suffered from hypoxic ischaemic encephalopathy and later developed cerebral palsy. Incomplete documentation and lack of required monitoring contributed to the breach. Health NZ has since revised protocols and training to improve care for at-risk infants.
