A baby sub-Antarctic fur seal was euthanized after being found severely injured at Bunga Beach near Lakes Entrance, Victoria, on September 17. Initially spotted unharmed, the seal later had broken ribs, spine injuries, and facial wounds, surrounded by human and dog footprints. The Conservation Regulator is investigating the incident, and a necropsy will be performed by Melbourne Zoo. Wildlife in Victoria is protected, with serious penalties for harming them.
