Hyundai Motor and Kia, in collaboration with Hyundai Steel and Ecopro BM, have initiated a four-year project to develop technology for producing lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries for electric vehicles. The aim is to create a method for synthesizing cathode materials directly, reducing reliance on imported precursors. Supported by South Korea's Ministry of Trade, the project seeks to enhance supply chain security and establish a stable domestic raw materials supply.
