Christian Topiter, 38, has been charged with arson for allegedly setting a fire at St Michan's Church in Dublin that destroyed priceless ancient mummies, including an 800-year-old artefact. Initially charged with criminal damage, the Director of Public Prosecutions has now authorized the arson charge. He is set for trial in the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, where he could face up to 10 years in prison if convicted. Topiter is also facing a separate robbery charge.
