Bangladesh investigates alleged security force enforced disappearances under former PM Sheikh Hasina's rule.

Bangladesh's new government is investigating hundreds of alleged enforced disappearances by security forces during former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's rule. A five-member commission, including two retired High Court judges, two rights activists, and a university teacher, will trace missing individuals and examine the circumstances surrounding their forced disappearances. The commission will investigate cases from January 1, 2010, to August 5, 2024. Security forces, including the police, Rapid Action Battalion, and military forces, will be probed for their alleged role in the forced disappearances. Human Rights Watch claims that Bangladesh's security forces have been responsible for over 600 enforced disappearances since 2009.
