Joint scientific expedition on the Aral Sea ecology began in Tashkent, Uzbekistan on Aug 24. Led by Chinese scientists in collaboration with regional and international experts, the expedition aims to address ecological crisis, promote green innovation, and propose a roadmap for restoration and green development of the Aral Sea. The research, supported by Chinese government, will study biodiversity, soil, hydrology, and geomorphology of the lakebed to explore degradation mechanisms.
