Kazakhstan and China partner to create artificial forests on Aral Sea bed for environmental restoration.
Kazakhstan and China are partnering on a project to create artificial forests on the dried-up bed of the Aral Sea, aiming to reduce negative environmental impacts. Chinese scientists have experience in this field, and a joint Kazakh-Chinese center is proposed to address the area's issues. Kazakhstan plans to plant saxaul shrubs on 1.1 million hectares by 2025, to combat wind-borne salt and dust damage.
