The pursuit led to McAlpine striking multiple deputies' vehicles and crashing before exiting his car with a gun. Deputies fired at him, resulting in non-life-threatening injuries. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency's State Bureau of Investigation will oversee the investigation.
