Wesley Floyd Poole, a 52-year-old man from Phenix City, Alabama, was shot in the shoulder by Lee County deputies after he pointed a pellet gun at them during a standoff on November 4. The incident followed a 911 call reporting a potential suicide. After 1.5 hours of negotiation, deputies opened fire when Poole aimed the weapon at them. He is currently in stable condition at Piedmont Hospital, and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is investigating the incident.
