Scottish Minister Christina McKelvie takes medical leave for breast cancer treatment.

Scottish Minister Christina McKelvie, who serves as the Drugs and Alcohol Policy Minister, has taken a medical leave to focus on her treatment and recovery from secondary breast cancer. McKelvie was diagnosed with the condition in June and had previously fought breast cancer in 2021. Her duties will be temporarily covered by Health Secretary Neil Gray and Public Health Minister Jenni Minto. McKelvie urged women to regularly check themselves and attend screening appointments and expressed gratitude to the medical staff at the Beatson Cancer Centre.
