Helicopter evacuations at Kluane Wilderness Lodge in Yukon due to 20 sq km Snag Lake wildfire.

Helicopter evacuations are underway at the Kluane Wilderness Lodge in southwestern Yukon due to a rapidly approaching wildfire, which has grown to over 20 square kilometers. The Snag Lake wildfire, which began in June, is fueled by extreme heat, dry conditions, and minimal rainfall in the region. The Yukon government's wildfire information website reports that structures around the lodge have been set up with sprinkler systems, and four people have been evacuated by helicopter. The Snag Lake wildfire is burning approximately 15 kilometers east of the Snag Junction area along the Alaska Highway, but buildings and the highway are not currently at risk.
