132 sq km Shetland Creek wildfire in British Columbia evacuates Ashcroft, doubles in size.
The Shetland Creek wildfire, burning in British Columbia, has scorched an estimated 132 square kilometres between Spences Bridge and Cache Creek. The fire has led to the evacuation of Ashcroft, with Interior Health moving more than 2 dozen long-term care and assisted living patients from facilities in the area. The fire's northern tip is 11 kilometres southwest of Ashcroft. The Shetland Creek wildfire has more than doubled in size overnight, reaching 12,402.5 hectares.
