Bangladesh's NTMC and BTRC shut down mobile and broadband internet services during the quota reform movement based on Zunaid Ahmed Palak's instructions.

A report has found that Bangladesh's National Telecommunication Monitoring Centre (NTMC) and the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) were responsible for shutting down mobile and broadband internet services during the quota reform movement, following the verbal instructions of then state minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak. The services were stopped and resumed without administrative approval between specific dates in July and August. The report denies any connection between torched data centers and internet blackouts, debunking Palak's claims that the two incidents were related. The investigation committee was formed to investigate the actual facts behind the internet shutdown during the student protests.
