Bangladesh may temporarily suspend Facebook and YouTube if platforms don't adhere to govt instructions on disinformation.

Bangladesh may temporarily suspend Facebook and YouTube services if the platforms fail to adhere to government instructions aimed at controlling the spread of disinformation, according to the country's Liberation War Affairs Minister and Chairman of Cabinet Committee on Law and Order, AKM Mozammel Haque. The minister expressed dissatisfaction with the social media platforms' lack of sincerity in addressing the government's concerns on various issues. Before taking any action, the government plans to inform the platforms about their noncompliance and serve public notices in newspapers to avoid complaints about infringing their rights.
