Bangladesh's Supreme Court scales back government job quotas following student protests and 139 deaths.

Bangladesh's Supreme Court has partly addressed student protests over a quota system for government jobs by scaling back the quotas, following widespread protests that resulted in 139 deaths. The court's Appellate Division dismissed a lower court order that reinstated the quotas. The decision will see 93% of government jobs opened to candidates on merit, without quotas. Although the ruling does not entirely meet the student's demands, the protests are set to continue.
