UK government offers junior doctors a 20% pay rise over two years to resolve pay dispute and potentially end strike action.
Junior doctors in England have reportedly been offered a 20% pay rise over two years by the UK government in an effort to resolve a long-standing pay dispute. The package includes a backdated 4.05% increase for 2023/24, along with an existing increase of between 8.8% and 10.3%. A further pay rise of 6% for 2024/25 will also be accompanied by a consolidated £1,000 payment, effectively providing a rise of between 7% and 9%. The British Medical Association's junior doctors committee is reportedly recommending this offer to members, which, if accepted, may put an end to ongoing strike action.
