A 50-year-old truck driver died after his vehicle plunged into the Clarence River in Lawrence, NSW while attempting to board a cable ferry on July 25. Onlookers rescued the man and performed CPR, but he could not be revived. The police established a crime scene at the Merton Street river crossing, and a report has been prepared for the Coroner and Safe Work NSW. The Bluff Point Ferry has been closed in both directions, and drivers have been advised to use alternative routes to cross the Clarence River.
