On Highway 28 near Campbell River, a single-vehicle crash resulted in one fatality. At midnight on August 25, the vehicle veered off the road, plunged down an embankment, and fell into a body of water. The incident was discovered when a passing motorist noticed out-of-place highway barriers. The Campbell River RCMP are working with the Search and Rescue team to recover the vehicle and body, while traffic is controlled with single-lane alternating controls. The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact the Campbell River RCMP.
