Barkerville's valuable artifacts and documents have been removed from the historic townsite due to the ongoing Antler Creek wildfire. Park Manager of Public Programming and Media, Stewart Cawood, made the decision to move the artifacts 16 hours before the evacuation alert. The team took preemptive action upon spotting a plume of smoke from the nearby mountain.
