Historic Barkerville, a popular gold rush town and tourist attraction, is under an evacuation alert due to a wildfire in the area. The Cariboo Regional District has issued an alert for 431 parcels covering 62,488 hectares, including the Barkerville Historic Town & Park. The town had already closed to tourists due to wildfire smoke and equipment was on-site to install structural protection sprinklers.
