33-year-old Longmeadow woman, Frances Lonergan, saved a 46-year-old man from drowning at Dowses Beach in Osterville, Cape Cod. Lonergan, on vacation with her family and newborn, heard the man calling for help as he struggled in the water, unfamiliar with the abrupt drop-off and strong currents. Without hesitation, she jumped in and pulled the victim to safety.
