Mi'kmaq First Nations and Canada agree to establish a new national park reserve on Prince Edward Island's northwestern coast.

Canada and Prince Edward Island's Mi'kmaq First Nations have reached an agreement to establish a new national park reserve on the northwestern shores of Prince Edward Island. The Mi'kmaw Nation Government and the Honourable Steven Guilbeault, Minister of Environment and Climate Change, announced the deal, which will protect the 50-km strip of islands off P.E.I. 's northwest coast, known as Pituamkek, and its historical and cultural significance for the Mi'kmaq people.
