British Columbia's government has agreed with two Vancouver Island First Nations to protect 760 sq km of Crown land in Clayoquot Sound by establishing 10 new conservancies, including old-growth forests, in a land and forest management agreement. The partnership reconfigures the tree farm licence to protect old-growth zones while supporting other forest industry tenures held by area First Nations.
