93,000 Northern Ireland children at risk of food insecurity during summer holidays due to ended school holiday food grant.
93,000 children in Northern Ireland who receive free school meals during term time are at risk of food insecurity over the summer holidays, as the school holiday food grant, providing £27 per child per fortnight, ended last year. The Trussell Trust, which runs foodbanks, has called on Stormont to reinstate the support. Northern Ireland is now the only part of the UK where no summer holiday food assistance is available for low-income families.
