28% of teachers in England, as per a Teacher Tapp app survey, provided food to at least one pupil in the summer term due to welfare concerns, with the issue more prevalent in deprived areas. Charity FareShare is calling on the government to address child hunger and ensure children receive nourishment for school. The National Education Union also demands universal free school meals to tackle the growing issue.
