41% of Irish parents reduce their meals to feed their children due to cost-of-living crisis, while 25% cut back on medical supplies.

A new survey by Barnardos and Aldi reveals that 41% of Irish parents have reduced their own meals to ensure their children are adequately fed due to the cost-of-living crisis. Additionally, 25% of parents have cut back on medical supplies to buy food, and nearly a quarter have borrowed money to feed their children within the last year. The charity urges the government to support families in Budget 2025 and extend free school meals to secondary level, as 1 in 5 families have had to cut back on activities to afford food.
