IOC chief Bach urges France to be proud of Pierre de Coubertin, the Paris-born founder of modern Olympics.

IOC chief Thomas Bach urged France to be "proud" of Pierre de Coubertin, the Paris-born aristocrat who founded the modern Olympics, despite criticism of his views on women and colonialism. De Coubertin revived the ancient Greek games in the late 19th century and created the IOC 130 years ago. Bach stated that the Olympic Games and sports system de Coubertin created have passed the test of time and that France should be proud of his legacy.
