2036 Olympics hosting interest high despite climate, doping, and esports challenges, per IOC head Bach.
Thomas Bach, head of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), said interest in hosting the Olympics is higher than ever, despite threats from climate change, AI-enhanced doping, and competition from esports. Bach, who has led the IOC since 2013, noted that there were "double-digit" numbers of countries vying to host the 2036 games, compared to only two applicants for the 2024 and 2028 events.
