800 gallons of toxic fire-fighting foam, containing harmful chemicals like PFAS, were accidentally spilled at the Vermont National Guard base in South Burlington due to a fire system malfunction. The foam, used for liquid-based or liquid-fueled fires, was released into an unoccupied building on June 20th. The Vermont National Guard is working with local agencies to contain the spill and will release more information as it becomes available.
