BASF Corporation reaches a $316.5M settlement with US public water systems over PFAS contamination in firefighting foam.

BASF Corporation has reached a $316.5 million settlement with U.S. public water systems that claimed toxic "forever chemicals" PFAS in firefighting foam made by the company contaminated their water supplies. The money will help cities, towns, and other public water systems remediate contamination of perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). The settlement, which must be approved by a federal judge, does not constitute an admission of liability or wrongdoing by BASF.
