France's consumer price inflation increased to 2.3% year-on-year in May, primarily due to higher energy (5.7%) and food (1.3%) prices. Services inflation softened to 2.8%, while core inflation eased to 1.7%. EU-harmonized inflation rose to 2.6% from 2.4% in the prior month. The difference in inflation rates between HICP and CPI is attributed to changes in reimbursements and annual energy price evolution.
