Eurozone inflation softened to 2.6% in February, according to final data from Eurostat, reflecting the decline in energy prices. The annual increase in the harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) was down from 2.8% in January, while core inflation, which excludes energy, food, alcohol, and tobacco, slowed to 3.1% from 3.3% a month ago. The European Central Bank projects overall inflation to average 2.3% this year, 2.0% in 2025, and 1.9% in 2026.
