New York state lawmakers have approved a bill to prevent third-party reservation services, such as Resy and OpenTable, from selling reservations for restaurants without the establishment's approval. Known as the Restaurant Reservation Anti-Piracy Act, the legislation aims to combat the use of bots that make reservations for resale at high prices. If signed by Governor Kathy Hochul, New York will become the first state in the US to address black market restaurant reservations.
