Alberta Human Rights Commission has fined the Edmonton Police Service $80,000 for racially discriminating against two Black men, Yousef John and Caesar Judianga, during a wrongful arrest in 2017. The men were pepper-sprayed and arrested after calling 911 to report a crime. The commission awarded each man $40,000 for "injury to dignity" and ordered the police to compensate John for lost wages and Judianga for a torn jacket.
