1,000-participant study finds resistant starch in unripened green bananas reduces cancer risk in Lynch syndrome patients, potentially benefiting general population.

New research from the Universities of Newcastle and Leeds suggests that eating green, unripened bananas containing more resistant starch may reduce the risk of certain cancers in some people. A study involving nearly 1,000 participants with Lynch syndrome found that a regular dose of resistant starch, taken for an average of two years, reduced cancers in other parts of the body by more than half. This health benefit may also apply to the general population.
