Astronomers discovered Earth-sized exoplanet SPECULOOS-3b orbiting an ultracool dwarf star, 55 light-years away.
Astronomers have discovered an Earth-sized planet orbiting an ultracool dwarf star similar in size to Jupiter, 55 light-years from Earth. The ultra-cool dwarf star is twice as cold as our Sun, as well as ten times less massive and a hundred times less luminous. The exoplanet, named SPECULOOS-3b, is the second of its kind to be discovered around this type of star and orbits the red dwarf once every 17 hours.
