The James Webb Space Telescope discovered a potentially habitable "super-Earth" ice world, LHS 1140 b, 48 light-years away in the constellation Cetus.
The James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) has revealed a potentially habitable, icy exoplanet called LHS 1140 b, located about 48 light-years away in the constellation Cetus. LHS 1140 b, 1.7 times the size of Earth, is now considered a promising "super-Earth" ice or water world within the habitable zone of its red dwarf star. Its potential existence of an atmosphere and even an ocean of liquid water makes it a top candidate for further investigation in the search for extraterrestrial life.
