Iraq requests UN to end UNAMI mission by 2025 due to progress towards stability, per PM al-Sudani.
Iraq's government has asked the United Nations to end its political mission, known as UNAMI, by the end of 2025. The mission was set up after the 2003 US-led invasion of Iraq to promote governance and human rights reforms. Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani stated that Iraq's government has achieved significant progress towards stability, making the mission redundant.
