18-year-old apprentice Adam Newell died from live electrical contact during unsupervised work; Swift Control Services fined £10,000 for health and safety offence.

A Co Tyrone electrical company, Swift Control Services, was fined £10,000 after an 18-year-old apprentice, Adam Newell, died during work at a new build house in October 2021. Adam, who was unsupervised, sustained fatal injuries after coming into contact with a live electrical circuit while working with a newly laid electrical cable. The Health and Safety Executive found the company guilty of a single health and safety offence.
