China's railway network is set to handle 144 million passenger trips during the eight-day May Day holiday travel rush, with a peak day of approximately 21 million trips. An average of over 12,000 passenger trains will run daily, up from the usual number during non-rush periods. In addition, during the upcoming five-day Labor Day holiday, an average of 270 million trips through both private and public modes of transportation are anticipated, with highways recording 63.5 million vehicles daily.
