Māori Public Health Organisation Hāpai Te Hauora and the NZ government launched the Whakakotahitanga FASD Guidelines to address Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD)
Māori Public Health Organisation Hāpai Te Hauora and the NZ government have launched the Whakakotahitanga FASD Guidelines, co-designed with whānau (families) and health professionals, to address Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD). Affecting up to 3,000 babies annually in NZ, the guidelines aim to establish a clear assessment and diagnosis pathway, with an emphasis on Te Tiriti o Waitangi, Māori health understandings, and whānau voice. While FASD is officially recognized as a disability, no funding currently supports families impacted by it.
