New Zealand's Intellectual Health Society criticized a government health report for not addressing the health of people with intellectual disabilities.

New Zealand's Intellectual Health Society (IHC) criticized a recent government report for not addressing the health of people with intellectual disabilities, despite acknowledging health inequities. The Health Status Report by Te Whata Ora Health New Zealand failed to address the 47,000 people with intellectual disabilities in the country. The IHC, which released a 2023 report revealing the life expectancy for Māori people with intellectual disabilities to be 62 for men and 63 for women, is calling for the government to prioritize and address the inadequacies in health provision for this population.
