3-week dredging operation launched to remove invasive caulerpa seaweed at Iris Shoal, Hauraki Gulf.

The New Zealand government, with Ngāti Manuhiri Settlement Trust and Biosecurity New Zealand, has launched a 3-week dredging operation to remove invasive caulerpa seaweed at Iris Shoal near Kawau Island in the Hauraki Gulf. The project aims to eradicate the seaweed across 18 hectares and explore other potential sites for dredging. The operation is set to conclude on May 17 (weather permitting).
