100-hectare oyster reef restoration project underway in Queensland's Moreton Bay; largest in Southern Hemisphere.
Community-driven oyster reef restoration efforts are underway in Australia, with a project in Queensland's Moreton Bay aiming to restore 100 hectares over the next decade. This ambitious plan, known as the Moreton Bay Shellfish Reef Restoration Project, is the largest oyster reef restoration project in the Southern Hemisphere. With the support of the national Reef Builder campaign, local groups are inspired to restore oyster and mussel reefs in their own communities.
