New Zealand's Te Whio Farm partners with KMR and The Forest Bridge Trust to protect Kaipara Moana harbor, plant wetlands, and reduce sediment flows.

New Zealand's Te Whio Farm, owned since 1919, is partnering with Kaipara Moana Remediation (KMR) and The Forest Bridge Trust to protect the mauri (life force) of the Kaipara Moana, the largest natural harbor in the Southern Hemisphere. The farm has fenced and planted wetlands and waterways, with 6.6km of fencing installed and 8,610 native plants planned by winter 2023-2024. The initiative aims to retire steep hill country, support native wildlife, and halve sediment flows into the harbor, benefiting the environment, communities, and local species.
