5-month open fire ban in British Columbia's Interior region due to early wildfire season and drought.

British Columbia Wildfire Service has enforced a five-month open fire ban across much of the province's Interior region due to an early start of the wildfire season and ongoing drought conditions. The ban, effective from May 3 to Oct. 11, covers Category 3 fires and prohibits burning multiple fires at once or larger piles, applying to Lillooet, Kamloops, Merritt, Vernon, and Penticton fire zones. The ban aims to minimize the risk of further fires and increase safety for local communities.
