Category 2 open burning is prohibited across the Southeast Fire Centre in British Columbia, effective from 12 p.m. PDT on July 5, due to anticipated warmer, dry weather. The prohibition includes the Rocky Mountain and Selkirk Natural Resource Districts and extends from Fernie, Cranbrook, and Kimberley to Grand Forks and north past Golden. The ban does not apply to Category 1 campfires.
