The Indian Coast Guard rescued a Sri Lankan fisherman suffering from a heart condition after his boat drifted into Indian waters due to an engine failure. The Coast Guard received a distress alert from Sri Lanka on April 1 and dispatched a helicopter to airlift the ill fisherman to Chennai, where he was admitted to the hospital. The boat, which set sail from Sri Lanka on March 22, lost communication on March 28 and was later sighted by the Indian Coast Guard around 40 nautical miles off Puducherry.
