Canada's national pollution price increases by $15 per tonne, impacting consumers' gas, heating, and BBQ propane costs.
Today, the national price on pollution in Canada will rise by $15 per tonne, affecting consumers, small and medium-sized businesses, First Nations, and public-sector operations. This increase will lead to higher costs for gas (an additional $1.65 for filling a 50 litre tank), natural gas heating bills (approximately $5.40 more per month), and propane tank refills for barbecues (an extra 55 cents). The federal government is adjusting the Canada Carbon Rebate to reflect the higher carbon costs, with the next payment on April 15.
